Thermal Conductivity of Biocemented Graded Sands

This paper includes an investigation of the thermal conductivity biocemented soils to better understanding regimes heat transmission through treated by microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP). A series tests using transient plane source method (TPS) was performed on silica sand specimens with different gradations, void ratios, and MICP treatment cycles. The results showed that greatly improved specimens. An increase in uniformity coefficient or a decrease ratio resulted MICP-treated for given cycle. increment respect untreated also affected gradation, ratio, content carbonate. greatest improvements were achieved sands having initial degree saturation between 0.82 0.85. empirical equation established predict variables, which may be useful designing energy piles layers.
